Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior official said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
